Autumn brings the Double Ninth Festival and warmth for older people across Yimeng. From October 27 to 29, Hongda Group continued its 17-year tradition of honoring seniors. Together with the Yishui Association for the Promotion of the Old Revolutionary Base Areas, resident enterprise Party secretaries, the Yuandongtou Town Party Committee and community staff, a special visiting team delivered festival care to the Qianbashan, Houbashan, Jingshanhu and Hubuxi communities and several villages in Yuandongtou Town. The team visited residents aged 80 and above, offering supplies, companionship and holiday greetings.

At Houbashan Community, the team visited an elderly couple in their home. Old photographs neatly arranged on a wooden shelf and green plants in the courtyard showed their love of life. Both were over 80 but remained energetic. Holding the visitors’ hands, they said, “Life is getting better every year. You come to see us every year and feel even closer than family.” The team asked carefully about winter heating and daily life, reminded them to care for their health, exercise appropriately and maintain a positive routine.

In the villages of Yuandongtou Town, the team visited a woman in her nineties. Golden corn hung in the courtyard, alongside fresh vegetables and full, ripe fruit. Still strong enough to do occasional farm work, she smiled with delight when the visitors arrived. She told them, “The times have truly changed. Life keeps getting better; I never imagined I would enjoy such good days.” Before leaving, the team presented gifts and reminded her to eat healthily and balance work with rest.

Since the first Double Ninth senior-care activity in 2009, Hongda Group has never stopped. This year, the Group donated more than RMB 600,000 in cash and supplies, covering 46 villages and benefiting more than 1,352 seniors. Over 17 years, total investment has exceeded RMB 9.2 million, bringing warmth to more than 20,000 seniors.

Respecting and caring for older people is part of China’s cultural tradition. Hongda Group will continue to fulfill its social responsibility, carry forward traditional virtues, share the benefits of development with seniors, and bring warm strength to beautiful villages and a harmonious society.
